Convite_Colóquio_19_09_2023

BIBLIOTECA NACIONAL DE PORTUGAL: INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM | September 19th, 2023 | 09:30am-5:00pm | Auditorium - Level 1. This colloquium will present some partial results of the work carried out throughout 2022 and 2023 and will mark the official launch of the MARCMUS project site. Participants were chosen from the project team: António Jorge Marques, Andrew Wolley, João Pedro d'Alvarenga, Zuelma Chaves and Eva Mathilde Ribeiro; its three consultants (Maria del Carmen Hidalgo Brinquis, Maria José Ferreira dos Santos and Emanuel Wenger) and guest IT engineer, Pedro Sousa, have also been invited. Furthermore, the principal investigator of Paper and Copyists in Viennese Opera Scores, Martin Eybl, will talk about the Viennese brother project.

The Fundo do Conde de Redondo is one of the most outstanding musical collections of the National Library of Portugal (BNP). The project MARCMUS - Music paper and handwriting studies in Portugal (18th and 19th centuries): the case study of the collection of the Fundo do Conde de Redondo, a partnership between BNP and the Centre for the Study of Sociology and Aesthetics of Music (CESEM), aims to systematically record and digitally preserve the watermarks and paper-types (the conjunction of the watermark and the number and size of staves drawn by rastra) of the music manuscripts. The literary and musical handwritings of the copyists and composers involved will also be recorded (the collection possesses a significant number of autographs). The online site will allow free and open access to the resulting relational databases (watermarks / paper-types and handwritings).
