Biography

Luigi Donadei Parne may have belonged to the Benedictine monastery of S. Lorenzo in San Severo, Italy, to judge from a manuscript score of a motet preserved at I-SSVcap, ‘Fatto dal Sig.r D. Luigi Donadei p. uso di me Vincenzo Gallo’, said to originate from this institution. The copyist of a manuscript of Franceso Durante’s Litania in G minor for SATB voices, two violins and bass in the Fundo do Conde de Redondo (P-Ln, F.C.R. 069), of Italian origin and signed at the end ‘Luigi Donadei Parne 1761‘, is presumably the same person. A set of parts copied in Portugal for Durante’s Litania survives as P-Ln, M.M. 82//19 (Alvarenga 1995, p. 124n).
